Today is a rough sketch for an illustration I did about 20 years ago for a local video rental business. The company specialized in foreign and art films and they needed a humorous illustration for their catalog. If I remember correctly, the gist of the drawing was "experience the Cannes film festival without leaving home."
(Rotring drawing pen on drawing paper.)
What's all this, then?
Since I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do with this blog right now, I've decided to post some of the strange doodles and drawings I've kept in boxes, folders, and cabinets these past 30 years. A lot of these things were done while on the phone, or while testing pens, or out of sheer boredom. There won't be any rhyme or reason to these drawings. I'm just grabbing stuff from off the piles, scanning it, and adding it here. Think of it as a game of cartoon Russian roulette. The neat thing about the drawings is that each one has it's own history and background story. There will be plenty of bonus posts and topical additions as the mood strikes. Forewarned is forearmed.

So Marty, just what is a Rotring drawing pen? Seems to give a nice variable line. I've tried the brush pens, but my hand is not steady enough...
Bruce, Rotring is a brand that Rapidograph carried a while back. They made clutch pencils and fountain pens with long brush like barrels. The pens use the same ink cartridges that the standard Rapidograph Tech pens use. I've been using it a lot less frequently these days because it's older and I'm afraid of breaking it. (I've also fallen in love with the Pigma Micron Brush pens.) I'll send you a link for the pens.
